Connecting Communities through Microgrids
EnergyConnect is a team of planners, engineers and technical professionals combining services to deliver Micro-grid technology to communities in regional and remote parts of Northern Australia.
The team are investigating the feasibility of three Micro-grid projects in off-grid and fringe-of-grid Indigenous communities in Far North Queensland.
These communities are currently serviced by unreliable electricity networks, challenged by distance, weather and other environmental factors. The projects will deliver improvements in quality of life, and the economic, commercial and educational opportunities afforded by a stable and reliable electricity network.
Our Projects
Yarrabah
Yarrabah is Australia’s largest mainland Indigenous community, the traditional home of the Gunggandji and Yidinji people.
Muralug Island
Muralug (otherwise known as Prince of Wales Island) is the largest of the Torres Strait Islands, the traditional home of the Kaurareg people.
Napranum
Napranum is a remote Indigenous community on the Western coast of Cape York Peninsula, the traditional home of the Alngith people.
