What is a Microgrid?

A micro-grid is a small electricity network incorporating local energy generation and storage. Generation includes technologies such as solar panels, wind turbines, energy-from-waste, biofuels, hydropower (river flow) and batteries.

The network connects houses, businesses and community facilities, and can sustain disconnection from the normal distribution grid if supply is interrupted.

In the case of our projects, Tropical Cyclones and weather events regularly disrupt normal supply to these communities.
